Putting themselves on a list
Congress passed H.R.8 this past week. House Republicans managed to get a poison pill inserted into the bill requiring notification of I.C.E. if an illegal immigrant tries to buy a gun.
This upset Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:
“House Democrats exploded in recriminations Thursday over moderates bucking the party, with liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatening to put those voting with Republicans “on a list” for a primary challenge … But Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), the unquestioned media superstar of the freshman class, upped the ante, admonishing the moderates and indicating she would help liberal activists unseat them in the 2020 election. Corbin Trent, a spokesman for Ocasio-Cortez, said she told her colleagues that Democrats who side with Republicans “are putting themselves on a list.” “She said that when activists ask her why she had to vote for a gun safety bill that also further empowers an agency that forcibly injects kids with psychotropic drugs, they’re going to want a list of names and she’s going to give it to them,” Trent said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement …”
I doubted the Senate would take up the bill before and with this amendment I believe the issue is dead for the session. Democrats are more concerned with supporting illegals than with pleasing antigun activists.
It could be any day
We’re virtually certain to get stuck with a mandatory storage law.
“Gun owners in New York with children in their homes could soon face a misdemeanor charge if they don’t comply with the state’s safe storage requirements … Initially, the proposal imposed the requirement on all gun owners, but that language was struck from the bill on Thursday due to concerns from legislators, according to Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, a Westchester County Democrat who has sponsored the legislation for more than a decade. The amended language adds a violation with a maximum fine of $250 if a child, who doesn’t live at a residence, is “likely to gain access” to a gun … In light of the changes, Paulin anticipates the legislation is ready to pass both houses of the Legislature. “It could be any day,” she said …”
This crap has been around since the late 90s at least. It has been amended so many times it’s on like version 25. Everyone knows the idea is a stinker.

Williams wins PA race
Jumaane Williams won the race for NYC Public Advocate.
The office has little actual power, but it gives Williams a soapbox to push his extreme left agenda including gun control. I expect he’s going to waste little time before doing that.
