Thoughts on Biden’s gun control plan
Joe Biden released his gun control agenda:
“… I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets …”
My thoughts on this.
- The rollout of his agenda was Meh. Usually when introducing some proposal, the Left will put on some political theater for the press to justify whatever it is they want to do and give the illusion of existing public support. Not this time. There was clearly some level of co-ordination between antigun activists and electeds, but no big media event like a Rose Garden presser or gathering on Capitol Hill steps with politicians and supporters.
- Democrats do not appear enthused about Biden’s proposals or the issue in general. Some do, but gun control is a proven stinker for the party at the polls and they know it. They know if they enact any significant new gun control they will pay a price at the next election.
- Not this shit again (smh)… Banning “assault weapons” has been going on for 30 years. It clearly has no public benefit, but fringe advocates keep bringing up the same, tired old arguments over and over again. The issue is worn out.
- The NRA doesn’t matter as much as antigun advocates think it does. NRA’s problems, as a corporation, are entirely the fault of the Board and Executive staff. But public support for gun rights does not come from the NRA, rather NRA exists because of public support for 2A. Gun control advocates either fail to grasp this point or are unwilling to admit it. Gun control is a lunatic fringe position. 2A is mainstream and support is rising.
- Nobody is happy about having either Biden or Harris in the White House. I do not believe either can use the bully pulpit to browbeat Congress to support their agenda.
Delgado pushing gun control
Rep. Antonio Delgado is pushing gun control with this petition he just sent out to constituents.
If Republicans had their shit together we would have been rid of him in last November’s election.

The legislature will livestream a public hearing tomorrow, Feb. 10 @ 9:30am on public protection proposals in the state budget.
Students Demand Action will testify in support of S-1049, Establishes the Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Act; provides findings for evidence-based and evidence-informed health programs from hospital-based and community-based programs.
The bill declares that “gun violence” is “a crisis” and hands out monies to political cronies.

Senate Codes to take up “ghost guns” bills
Senate Codes Committee will livestream Monday at 11:30am.
On the posted agenda are S-13, Enacts the “Scott J. Beigel Unfinished Receiver Act” in relation to unfinished frames or receivers, and S-14, Enacts the “Jose Webster Untraceable Firearms Act.”
S-13 defines “unfinished receiver” as so to criminalize the sale and possession of metal and plastic sheets, billets, rods, wires, powders and granules.
S-14 defines “unfinished receiver” as per S-13 and would criminalize replacing the grips, attachment of an optical sight, and the replacement of a broken pin, screw or spring on any firearm.
