Senate EnCon advances lead ammo ban

Senate EnCon advanced bill S-5058, Prohibits the use of lead ammunition in the taking of wildlife on state-owned land and on land contributing surface water to the New York city water supply.

During the meeting Sen. Patty Ritchie asked if the bill was for both rifles and shotguns (Yes). She said she heard from her constituents regarding the shortage of ammunition and asked if there was any “grandfather clause.” The response was the bill would take effect in January 2023.

Sen. Rachel May chimed in saying she had also heard from her constituents about the ammo shortage and said she hoped to work with Ritchie to address their concerns later.

That was it. Fudds who for years refused to standup to politicians are in for a surprise when the legislature passes this bill and they can’t go hunting.
