The return of Andrew

The Times Union reports that Andrew Cuomo is plotting his comeback with a “gun safety group”:

“More than a year after he resigned and abruptly exited the state’s political sphere, former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo issued a video statement Wednesday announcing his new podcast and the formation of a political action committee and gun safety group … Cuomo will also head a new initiative called the Gun Safe America Project, he said, criticizing the political gridlock hampering federal gun legislation. He released few details on the venture but said more information will be forthcoming …”

It’s going to be more of the same old shit, just with his face plastered all over it.

Albany Co. public hearing on gun bills

The Albany Co. Legislature’s Law Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday September 28 @ 6:30pm at the Harold L. Joyce Albany County Office Building on proposed Local Law J, mandatory firearms storage, proposed Local Law K, banning weapons from county facilities, and proposed Local Law M, posting notices about the danger of “illegal firearms.”

City Council declares Times Square a “sensitive area”

The City Council passed two gun control bills today:

  • INT 518A-2022, Requires the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice to coordinate with the New York City Police Department to conduct a study and issue an annual report to the Mayor and City Council Speaker on the trafficking of illegal firearms into New York City.
  • INT 602-2022, For the purposes of state penal law definition of sensitive area for the carrying of guns, defines the area commonly known as Times Square. Also authorizes the New York City Police Department to promulgate such rules as may be necessary to implement the bill, including rules applicable, as appropriate, to persons with a firearms license who live or work in the area commonly known as Times Square.

Both bills go to Mayor Adams for signing.
