Westchester license fees bill passes

A-5092/S-4879, Relates to fees charged for a license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver in the county of Westchester, passed the legislature. It now goes to the Governor for signing.

I expect the county will jack the cost of a pistol license up into the hundreds of dollars at least.

Rochester City Council considers mandatory storage law

WROC reports:

Rochester City Council members looking for ways to keep guns out of the hands of kids seemed open to a safe gun storage initiative presented by Moms Demand Action. Members of the group presented their ideas to the public safety committee Thursday afternoon. Calling gun safety a public health issue and not a political one, a volunteer who is also a doctor at the University of Rochester asked for support to educate adults about the dangers of leaving guns unlocked and loaded around kids …”

Warning signs bill may be voted on

With the last scheduled session day tomorrow, a bunch of garbage bills have advanced in one chamber or the other. Only one I think could still go the distance, S-6649, Relates to warnings to be posted and provided by firearms dealers, advanced today to 3rd Reading. It’s companion A-2882 has been on 3rd Reading since April and could still be voted on before the clock runs out.

Malicious prosecution

From WABC-TV:

“A man in Queens has been charged after he shot and killed another person who was allegedly trying to rob him, police reported … The 32-year-old was armed with a sharp object and attempted to rob a 65-year-old of money and cigarettes, authorities said. The 65-year-old, identified as Charles Foehner, pulled a sliver handgun and shot him as many as five times … He then called 911, stating he was in a shooting and the gun was in his jacket pocket. He voluntarily surrendered to responding officers. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and a pen was discovered in his right hand. The 65-year-old was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, according to a spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney’s Office.”

The shooting was obviously self-defense, but Foehner didn’t have a license for the handgun so they’re going after him for that.  This has happened before and there’s no justification for that.  This is how antigun electeds get around the Bruen decision. Expect much more garbage like this from City prosecutors.

The internet is not a good place to find legal advice, but one nugget I came across has always stuck with me and should be shared as it applies in this case: Don’t invite The Man into your life.
