Santorum’s turn

Fresh of his three primary wins, it looks like it’s Rick Santorum’s turn to be the anti-Romney candidate.  Like those before him, he’s going for the gun vote too.  The NSSF reports, “Santorum ‘Stands Tall’ for 2nd Amendment at NSSF Member Range“:

“… Rick Santorum demonstrated his strong support for the individual right to keep and bear arms by visiting H&H Shooting Sports Complex in Oklahoma City en route to a rally today … During his pre-rally visit at H&H, Santorum said, “I wish we could have had it here, this would have been perfect.”  He added, “I am very impressed.  It is easy to see why gun ownership is so strong here, and I stand tall with the Second Amendment.” …”

McCarthy getting the shaft

It appears that Carolyn McCarthy has been right to be worried about CD-4 being redistricted out of existence.  According to the Daily News:

“… State Senate and Assembly negotiators are looking at merging McCarthy’s Nassau County district into a Nassau-Queens district now held by fellow Dem Gary Ackerman, sources close to the planning said.  McCarthy’s current district “collides” with Ackerman’s, making it a perfect candidate for merger, insiders said …”

That plus the fact that McCarthy is dumb as toast.  She’s not a powerbroker.  She’s nothing more than a single issue shill, and her one issue is becoming increasing unpopular with the public.  In other words, she’s expendable.

Let’s not go that far

Seen over at Human Events, “Romney is good for guns, guns owners.

Umm, No.

More like gun owners would probably have a better chance of influencing policy under a President Romney than a second-term President Obama.  That looks to be about as good as it will get this time around.

Schimel reaching out

Not content to annoy people in her home state with her crackpot gun control schemes, Michelle Schimel has decided to branch out:

“I recently met with Jody Weis, Deputy Director of the Chicago Crime Commission … As the sponsor of a microstamping bill in the New York State Assembly, I met with Mr. Weis after learning of his interest in microstamping technology from a national news show where he spoke about his plan to push for microstamping legislation in Illinois … Both of us agreed that I should reach out to members of the Illinois State Legislature …”

I’m sure the ISRA will appreciate Schimel’s efforts.

MAIG Super Bowl ad

A MAIG ad will air during the Super Bowl featuring Mayor Mike and Mayor Mumbles.  According to the Daily News, the topic will be:

“… fixing the nation’s broken background check system that allows criminals and dangerous people to buy guns illegally …”

Nobody is going to pay attention to this.
