The other Democrat candidate
Comedian/activist Randy Credico is the other candidate running in the primary against Governor Cuomo. He isn’t going to win, but if you’re going to vote in the primary it might as well be for him:
“… He also wants to put an end to the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law in January 2013. “Even though I’m a liberal, by the far the most liberal person in the race, I’m a strong opponent of the SAFE Act,” the Manhattan resident said. “If I were governor I would repeal the SAFE Act. The way Cuomo put that through was not really necessary. But that’s typical of his style, to just ram things down his way. We deserve a governor who works for all of us, not just a wealthy few. We need a real Democrat in Albany.” …”
LCA won’t question Cuomo on Remington
Not a single member of the LCA has challenged Gov. Cuomo or any of his spokesmen on all the BS they’ve been putting out for several months regarding jobs at Remington’s Illion plant.
Can these people be anymore in the tank for his re-election?
NY/CT gun cases will go to same judicial panel
Legal update from counsel on NYSRPA’s SAFE lawsuit:
“Our case has been scheduled for briefing and argument before the same panel of judges that will hear the Connecticut case as was expected. Both New York and Connecticut are in the Second Circuit and are close enough in time that no other move would be reasonable by the court. The two cases going before the same court will allow our counsel to show how anti-gunners use whatever definition they want for an “assault weapon” and that it is a political term, not a real one, and has no meaning because it is defined differently in every jurisdiction that tries to use it. Each case will be argued on its own, just before the same judges.”
Cuomo says it is not his fault
The Governor says the layoffs at Remington are not his fault:
… “The layoffs at Remington Arms are a function of Remington moving to the state of Alabama and consolidating operations all across the country,” Cuomo told reporters today at the State Fair in Syracuse. “I know we tend to think we’re New York it must be about us. Sometimes it’s not about us.” …
Except when it is:
“… Remington group CEO George Kollitides says Alabama’s state motto – “We Dare Defend Our Rights’ -“says it all.” … State commerce secretary Greg Canfield says 9 sites in Alabama were shown to Remington for expansion. It quickly narrowed down to Huntsville. Canfield cites fact Alabama is “right to work” state with right building, right mix of skilled workers. “We are a state that is strongly supportive of the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms,” Canfield says to applause …”
Awhile back the administration was saying there wouldn’t even be any layoffs:

Some Sheriffs may not enforce the SAFE Act
NYAGV tries to intimidate Cahill
Yet another lame attempt at intimidation by NYAGV, this time against Attorney General candidate John Cahill:
“It has come to our attention that you served on the Republican National Committee’s Platform Committee in 2012 and that the final platform document – which you rubberstamped – espoused extreme … anti-gun control positions … The platform opposed common sense gun laws limiting the capacity for firearm clips and magazines, and endorsed so-called “Stand Your Ground” rights – which have been widely criticized for enabling racially motivated violence …”
Antis oppose SYG laws because they seriously believe using a gun in self-defense is morally wrong. Professional bigots like Al Sharpton jumped on the bandwagon just to make a buck off it.
“… We call on you to renounce the RNC’s 2012 platform or explain what steps you took to defeat these offensive planks …”
If Cahill is smart he will follow Rob Astorino’s lead and ignore them.
Astorino can win
During a campaign stop Rob Astorino said:
“… “I can tell you that every stop we make now, the crowds get bigger and people understand we can win this race” against Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, he said …”
“The AFL-CIO is taking a pass on next month’s Democratic primary for governor — so it won’t have to endorse Gov. Cuomo … The snub by the massive labor umbrella organization is the third by a leading union group and perhaps the most stinging, since it backed him four years ago …”
This doesn’t mean they’re about to endorse Astorino. It means Cuomo’s base isn’t motivated and might not show up on election day.
Remington layoffs
An expected followup to the announcement that Remington was moving production of semi-autos out of the state, today the company laid-off at least 105 employees at the Illion factory.
No enthusiasm for Cuomo
Ken Lovett at the Daily News opines:
“No one thinks Fordham Law School Prof. Zephyr Teachout will beat Gov. Cuomo in the Sept. 9 Democratic primary — but she could hurt him, experts said … If she gets 20% or more of the vote, it would show that a sizable amount of Cuomo’s own Democratic party has little enthusiasm for the governor, despite his success on gay marriage and tougher gun laws, Democratic operatives say …”
There’s zero enthusiasm for Cuomo now. Name one elected Democrat who is jumping up and down for his re-election?
Lovett inadvertently stumbles into the flaws with the gun control movement. First, it doesn’t motivate the Left like other issues due. Second, the astroturf nature of the antis make it impossible for them to impact elections. If Cuomo had done his homework he should have known this before pinning his political career on the issue.
