ILA reports that Mayor Mike and some MAIG buddies will be in Albany tomorrow for a press conference to push microstamping in the Senate. NSSF has an update on their website which spells out what is at state:
“… If S-6005A passes, firearms manufacturers would be forced to abandon the New York market rather than spend the astronomical sums of money necessary to completely reconfigure their manufacturing and assembly processes …”
Everyone needs to keep hammering on the Senators, all of them.
Carl Paladino is trying to make gun control a campaign issue. His campaign just released a statement against microstamping on his facebook group. He came to the R&P annual meeting over the weekend and I got some pictures of him shooting various guns.
Andrew Cuomo is quietly pushing microstamping. On his campaign website, under Issues and Agenda, is his manifesto, “The New NY Agenda: A Plan for Action.” On page 137:
“… We must keep our communities safe. Gun violence remains one our most serious problems. We must enact commonsense gun safety laws, such as requiring the microstamping of guns. Microstamping — a pro-law enforcement, low cost method of expanding the ability of police to identify guns used in illegal activities — would require all new semiautomatic handguns to be equipped with microscopic identifying markings, which are transferred to each cartridge case when the firearm is fired …”
The microstamping bill has advanced to 2nd Report in the Senate. Eric Schneiderman thinks he has the votes because the Republicans cannot keep their conference together, especially Frank Padavan and Tom Morahan who is retiring.

The microstamping bill S-6005A has been passed out of Senate Codes Committee and been sent to the floor to be voted on “at the call of the Majority Leader.”
NRA is doing robocalls to members about microstamping being on the Senate Codes agenda for tomorrow. I got one over the weekend.
NSSF is running radio ads “on stations in targeted upstate New York districts“, presumably in Buffalo, Syracuse and Watertown, urging people to contact their Senators.
