Budget bill hunting provisions removed

Budget bill A-3008C/S-2508C has been amended and resubmitted to Assembly Ways & Means and Senate Finance.

The bill originally contained provisions lowering the age for a hunting license and permitting hunting with a crossbow. These appear to have been removed.

Weeding out the worst

The race for Manhattan District Attorney is going to be a huge free-for-all in the June Democrat primary. There isn’t going to be a good 2A pick, but stuff like this can help in weeding out the worst of the lot:

Do not sit out the primary. Make the best pick possible at election time.

Schumer leads call to ban ‘ghost guns’

This isn’t leadership either. It’s just lame. The antis are failing around, desperate to pass anything, to maintain an illusion of relevance.

That’s not leadership

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

President Joe Biden said he plans to take aggressive action to implement new gun-control measures through both executive orders and by proposing legislation on Thursday. When asked whether he plans to unilaterally enact new restrictions on homemade firearms, provide funding for state and local gun-control efforts, or propose legislation making gun manufacturers liable for criminal misuse of their products, Biden said he does. “All the above,” he said. “It’s a matter of timing.” …”

That’s not leadership.

A real leader defines his agenda with plans to move forward and implement it.

President Houseplant clearly doesn’t have much faith either in the agenda and/or his ability to get it done (which is a good thing.)

Everytown lobbying update

Even though access to the LOB/CAP is limited due to COVID restrictions, Everytown’s lobbyists at Ostroff Associates have been busy pushing the agenda.

In addition to lobbying on “executive budget provisions”, which I assume are appropriations geared towards handouts to antigun legislators cronies back home, they have been working on the following bills with a multitude of electeds and staff:

  • A-614/S-14, Enacts the “Jose Webster Untraceable Firearms Act.”
  • A-2666/S-13, Enacts the “Scott J. Beigel Unfinished Receiver Act” in relation to unfinished frames or receivers.
  • A-5505/S-1049, Relates to the “Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Act.”
  • S-1048, Relates to the dangers to the safety and health of the public caused by the sale, manufacturing, importing and marketing of firearms.

Rocah begins to push Moms’ agenda

Back in January I said Mimi Rocah was going to use the D.A.’s office to push to Moms agenda.

She’s wasted no time starting with that:

“The Westchester District Attorney’s Office is partnering with Moms Demand Action, a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures to protect people from gun violence, to address the issue of gun violence in Westchester County, DA Miriam E. Rocah announced today … The DA’s Office will partner with all local schools to provide free resources for families to learn more about secure storage of firearms. Additionally, Moms Demand Action will provide free virtual training about their secure firearm storage program, Be SMART …”

Pure propaganda designed to scare kids about guns.
