NRA is doing robocalls to members about microstamping being on the Senate Codes agenda for tomorrow. I got one over the weekend.
NSSF is running radio ads “on stations in targeted upstate New York districts“, presumably in Buffalo, Syracuse and Watertown, urging people to contact their Senators.

McCarthy endorses Rice
Carolyn McCarthy endorsed Kathleen Rice for D.A., not fellow gun grabber Eric Schneiderman:
… “New York needs an attorney general whos both tough and progressive, and no one running for the office possesses that quality better than Kathleen.” …
I guess all those years carrying the antis agenda in the Senate really didn’t count for much.

Senate Codes, Tuesday June 8
S-5459, requires that the person be at least fourteen years of age, with no maximum age, for the possession and use of a pistol or revolver at a pistol range.
S-6005A, requires semiautomatic pistols manufactured or delivered to any licensed dealer in this state to be capable of microstamping ammunition.
Senate EnCon, Tuesday June 8
S-3223, “canned hunt”, prohibits the taking of non-native big game mammals in a fenced or other area from which there is no means for such mammal to escape.
Republicans pick Donovan
The GOP has nominated Staten Island D.A. Dan Donovan to be their candidate for state attorney general. That means at least two of three top ticket races have antigun candidates from both sides. Don’t know about Harry Wilson yet.
Democrat implosion, Republican incompetence

“… Gallup’s generic polling shows the number of voters saying that they would vote for Republicans rising three points from last week, while the number saying they will vote for Democrats dropped four points. The 49%-43% lead for the Republicans is the largest that the pollster has ever recorded for the party. Moreover, Democratic enthusiasm for voting this fall fell a point, while enthusiasm among Republicans stayed about fifteen points higher. This indicates an even wider lead for Republicans once Gallup imposes a likely voter screen this fall …”
Instead of taking advantage of this, what do we get from the NY GOP? Rick Lazio. According to every poll I’ve seen, Andrew Cuomo will squash him like a bug. Why? It’s not because people are in love with Cuomo. I like this observation from Bob Fois:
“… why has the New York Republican establishment looked at the best opportunity to win in 15 or 30 years and seemingly squandered it? Too much subtracting their opponents, not enough addition of their own candidates …”
Right. Where are the Republicans reaching out to the people? They’re definitely not trying for the gun vote. I don’t even see them looking to registered Republicans for support. It’s all the backroom boys pulling strings.

The Fund will prepare a report on its findings and meet with City officials about the issues raised. It will share the report with the 80 mayors who attended the summit, as well as anti-gun groups in cities around the country …

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY THWARTED AT THE JEFFERSONVILLE PHARMACY
On Wednesday May 26, 2010, at approximately 2:45PM, Deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of an attempted robbery at the Pharmacy on RT-52 in the Village of Jeffersonville. Employees reported that a male wearing a blue jumpsuit and a dark ski mask entered the business wielding a baseball bat and stated, “Give me all the drugs!” An employee of the store pulled a licensed pistol on the suspect and asked him, “Do you really want to do this?” The suspect fled the pharmacy empty handed. Deputy Eric Briehof in the Sheriff’s K-9 unit found the suspect in his residence at 4726 ST-52, near Lake Jefferson, and took him into custody. Deputies have identified the man as 55 year old Robert Roach of Jeffersonville. He was arraigned before Town of Thompson Judge Martin Miller on a charge of Attempted Robbery 1st degree, Criminal Posession of a Weapon 4th, and Menacing in the 2nd degree. Roach was sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
