The state GOP is making a somewhat lame effort to reach out to gun owners. Under Get Involved you can sign up for their mailing lists and chose Second Amendment as an hot button issue. The state Democrats have a similar sign up area, but do not ask about issues.
This would be a more impressive outreach if the GOP actually tried doing something substantiative, like running pro-gun candidates.
I’ve been a registered republican since Christ was a mess-crank and I have never been reached out to for anything. No phone calls, no candidates, not even begging for dollars.
This is the first time I can recall the GOP showing any sort of interest in the 2A.
The GOP considers 2A a losing issue in NY. But they’re desperate so they feign interest in it.
Most NY Democrats on the other hand sincerely hate the Second Amendment. And they’ve got enough of an enrollment advantage to be honest about it.
That is not accurate. Most Democrats from NYC don’t care much about the issue. While they may have personal opinions, it’s not a campaign issue for them.

Most NY Democratic leaders hate the Second Amendment. Some are honest about it. Others pay it lip service while doing everything within their power to oppose it. I stand by this comment.
That is not accurate. I believe that many don’t care about 2A because they don’t think they will get votes/money from gunnies at election time. They are not driven by a hardcore ideology. There are only a handful of movement antis like Eric Schneiderman and Carolyn McCarthy who promote the issue.
Money and votes are extremely important but one need only look at New Yorks’ laws rules and regulations for proof. They are the most restrictive in the entire country. Actions speak volumes louder than words.
