Cause and effect

Gun control advocates endorsed Joe Biden back in ’23 when people thought he was still competent. They thought they had found their savior, a candidate who was unafraid to openly support their fringe agenda.

When he was pushed out they shifted their support to Kamala. She lost the election, but Biden still paid homage to them by giving a medal to Carolyn McCathy.

The gun control issue blew up in the face of advocates at election time as it always does. Not only was it a vote loser, the same people advocates assumed would support their position, are now exercising their 2A rights:

“Gay and transgender liberals around the country are arming themselves over perceived concerns they’ll be rounded up and placed in “concentration camps” under a second Trump administration … Although precise figures regarding LGBTQ gun ownership are tough to ascertain given the small cohort, the Liberal Gun Club told the outlet that it’s received “thousands” of firearms training requests since the election — more than in all of 2023 combined — and that about a quarter of them were from those in the LGBTQ community …”

No way any of them saw that coming.

Pre-filed bills

Pre-filed bills have started to appear. So far it looks to be just re-introductions from previous years.

The first day of the 2025-26 legislative session is January 8.

Race to succeed Stefanik

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is joining the incoming Trump administration which will trigger a special election sometime in the next few months.

Dan Stec has already declared his candidacy and Fox News has a breakdown of some of the other potential candidates from both parties. Stec and other Republicans Robert Smullen and Chris Tague would be fine from a 2A perspective as would Steve McLaughlin, although I don’t see him giving up his current job.  They all have voting records to go on.

At this point I’m thinking Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino would be the best choice. I’m not aware of his stance on gun rights, but I suspect he would be more aggressive in pushing the Trump agenda especially on gun rights than the others would.

Scarsdale’s Tim Foley announced his candidacy

Scarsdale10583.com reports:

“Scarsdale’s Tim Foley has announced his candidacy to represent us in the Westchester County Legislature. The term of long-time legislator Ben Boykin will expire and Foley will be on the ballot for the position in June 2025 … I helped take on the NRA to treat gun violence as the public health threat that it is …”

Two Beta males running for DNC chair

The humiliating loss Democrats suffered this past election has created a power vacuum.  Two hopefuls have tossed their names into the running for DNC leadership roles.

First is State Senator James Skoufis:

State Sen. James Skoufis announced Saturday his candidacy to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee. The senator, representing most of Orange County and the Catskills, touted his bipartisan appeal in an announcement video posted to his X account. “I’ve won on tough Trump turf three times. I’ve won when governors face red waves, all while bringing the Democratic big tent together and never sacrificing our values,” Skoufis said …”

No one outside the Hudson Valley knows who he is.  He’s hardly a power broker in the State Senate either, much less statewide. I don’t take this seriously.

Next is noted antigunner David Hogg:

David Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 shooting at his high school in Parkland, Florida, who turned into a national anti-violence activist, has launched a bid to serve in leadership of the Democratic National Committee. Hogg, 24, announced Monday he is running to become a vice chair of the DNC, arguing he would focus on winning back young voters who have drifted from the Democratic Party to the Republicans …”

Hogg is a a walking, talking meme-making machine. I endorse his campaign on the grounds that he would destroy what is left of the party.

Junk lawsuit against Glock

A bunch of Democrat state A.G.s have filed a lawsuit against Glock:

“Attorneys general in Minnesota and New Jersey sued Glock on Thursday, accusing the company of making handguns that are easily modified to fire as illegal machine guns through a cheap add-on known as a “Glock switch.” … The gun maker has known for decades that its weapons are uniquely receptive to the switches and has not taken steps to change its design, according to the lawsuits …”

By definition, this has nothing to do with Glock. It is a third party modification. It’s like saying Ford has done nothing to prevent drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel of their cars. If we had a functioning legal system this garbage would be tossed out the first time it goes before a judge. Unfortunately I suspect it will drag out for a number of years before going down. I am a bit surprised that Tish James didn’t want in on this.

Two new resolutions introduced to City Council

Councilwoman Crystal Hudson has introduced two new virtue signalling resolutions to the Clown Council:

  • RES 681-2024 calls on the State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S-9904, in relation to defining the term mass shooting for purposes of emergency response measures and access to emergency funding.
  • RES 682-2024 calls on the State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S-9905, in relation to establishing the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and the Gun Violence Advisory Council.

These garbage bills exist primarily to help divert state monies to the cronies of electeds. They are both sponsored by Senator Zellnor Myrie who just so happens wants to run for Mayor next year. I will make an educated guess and say that Hudson’s main motivation is to use these resolutions to help aid Myrie’s mayoral campaign.
