Bloomberg made long gun licensing in NYC required sometime between 2008 and 2010. I had two shotguns in storage when I decided to take them bird hunting in the Midwest in the fall of 2010. I was stopped by cops at LGA who demanded my license saying I would be booked. Luckily a captain arrived, took a look at my matched pair, and said, “I know you’re legit but you gotta get this straightened out.” He let me board my flight with the guns checked. I never saw anything in the press about licensing.
