Last month I warned about a possible Republican sell out on gun control.
With the passage of A-10272/S-8121 I knew someone caved. It’s not hard to make an educated guess as to who and why, but I wanted something more concrete.
Buried in a State of Politics post is this nugget which identifies the rat:
“… The measure’s approval, which came with the aid of Democratic votes in the Senate, was a victory for Sen. Elaine Phillips, a Republican who represents suburban Nassau County and a swing district that Democrats have long hoped to flip …”
I’ll make a (not so) bold prediction: Philips gets neither an endorsement nor campaign contribution from gun control groups because of her vote and, assuming she has a Democrat opponent this fall, they will hammer her on the issue anyway.
