What would happen if a NY gun law is ruled unconstitutional

This is exactly what the state legislature will do if some aspect of New York gun law is ruled unconstitutional by SCOTUS. They will rewrite it with slightly different wording and punctuation and start the judicial process all over again.

The only way for permanent change is for gun owners to be involved with Democrat party politics and their selection and election processes.

First bills to watch

The state legislature begins their regular session on Monday.  In addition to the bills Governor Cuomo said he wanted passed there are others which I believe the legislature will take up.

Here is the list of ones that need to be watched:

  • A-425, “Children’s Weapon Accident Prevention Act”, mandatory firearms storage
  • A-451, relates to a ban on undetectable firearms, receivers and magazines
  • A-503, “Nicholas’s law”, mandatory firearms storage
  • A-506, mandatory firearms storage
  • A-763, establishes certain crimes relating to the criminal manufacture or possession of an undetectable firearm
  • A-773, relates to the criminal possession of a firearm or magazine digitally made
  • S-101, limits educational institutions ability to authorize the possession of a weapon on school grounds
  • S-1083, creates the “New York State Firearm Violence Research Institute”

City of Auburn Resolution 49-2018

The City of Auburn passed Resolution 49-2018 calling for passage of “red flag” gun control legislation at the state and federal level.

It actually passed last March, but city officials are trying to get some political mileage out of it by bringing it up now:


Cuomo’s agenda items

Governor Cuomo outlined his gun control agenda for this session. It includes:

  • “red flag” bill
  • prohibit bump stocks
  • extend background check waiting period to 10 days

It is important to note that this is just what Cuomo is asking for. It does not mean that the full legislature won’t pass addition legislation which the Assembly supported in previous sessions. I am expecting them to do just that. There are already three versions of mandatory storage introduced.

Rep. Pete King has a long history of being a RINO.

That tradition continues in the new Congress:

First bills

The first gun bills for the 2019-20 legislative session are now online.  Senator Ortt introed a bunch of pro-gun bills, but they are all DOA.  The bad stuff is not publicly available yet.

The session begins Wednesday when Governor Cuomo will give his State of the State address and the regular sessions start next Monday the 14th.
