Off the deep end with Senator Klein

Jeff Klein decided to respond to our response to his outburst last week:

“Tom King’s remarks are despicable and have no place in the court of public opinion. For him to claim that our state’s watershed gun control laws are somehow making women more vulnerable to sexual attacks is downright abhorrent. If Tom King was actually serious about protecting women, he would have joined me back in 2003 when I championed the repeal of the statute of limitations for rape prosecutions. Every credible statistic proves that smart gun control legislation like the SAFE Act effectively reduces gun crimes. I invite Tom King to come down to the Bronx anytime to meet the mothers, fathers, and children who are devastated by gun crimes almost every day.”

What possessed him to do this is beyond me.  All it does is diminish his own stature even more then his first outburst did.

Several points:

  1. He ignores claims by NOW that reported rapes are up.  He has too, they contradict his assertion that SAFE has made everyone safer.
  2. He’s never asked for an opinion on any of his bills, let alone one from 10 years ago which was unrelated to gun issues.  For the sake of argument, let’s assume it was a great piece of legislation.  According to his own description, it dealt with rape prosecutions, not rape prevention which is the core of our argument.  Typical leftist tactic of trying to change the subject.
  3. He claims that “every credible statistic” backs up his original statement that SAFE is good, but fails to provide any collaborating information, then contracts himself the next sentence.
  4. How can there be people “devastated by gun crimes almost every day” if SAFE is working just like he says it is in the previous sentence?
  5. Other legislators as well as NOW-NYC and NYAGV aren’t rushing to Klein’s defense.

  1. Why isn’t King responding with those points? Seems the more he can drag Klein out and poke holes in his argument the better.

  2. I am not, nor will I ever be running for any office, so until they pass another sedition act and drag me off to jail, I will continue saying what I believe needs to be said, especially when it’s a fucking asshole like Klein who I am personally embarrassed by. The problem with his constituents in the Bronx is not guns. If you finally achieved the absolute and total abolishment of 2A in the US, and achieved a “gun free” society, there is no doubt that his “constituents” in the Bronx would BUTCHER EACH OTHER day and night with every primitive weapon that is not a firearm. The blood letting, murder, and mayhem in that population would be absolutely unaffected, AND EVERYBODY, including Klein and his fucking asshole supporters know it. There are 10000001 reasons why that community is what it is, and astonishingly, not one of those reasons is their fault. Just ask them! Klein and the likes of him “attack problems and not people” but notice what the problem always ends up being – freedom.

  3. Winning the battle of wits isn’t that difficult. It’s the battle for public opinion over the long-term that concerns me. We often say the public is in favor of 2A. We say that it costs politicians that promote gun control. That doesn’t change that they are passing more and more restrictions on 2A. I’d argue that the long-term prognosis for us is not good. We need to be doing more in the court of public opinion. We need to be broadening the base much more than we are. They try to tar us with the “paranoid old white man” brush. We need to refute that image and we need to be holding them to account for their stupidity and lies.

  4. NYC empowered their criminals with the Sullivan Act, which abrogated the Second Amendment.
Now, they’re abrogating the Fourth Amendment, with Bloomberg‘s “Stop ‘n’ Frisk“, in an attempt to enforce their abrogation of the Second Amendment. Rape one fundamental, constitutional right, and then rape another fundamental, constitutional right to enforce it? Bullshit!

Here’s how “Stop ‘n’ Frisk” would work in Vermont:

Cop: “Sir, I’m finding a firearm on you, Sir.”
Citizen: “Yes, I carry it everyday. For the past 20 years.”
Cop: “Good for you, Sir. Have a nice day, Sir.”

How long would Stop ‘n’ Frisk last in a constitutional carry state? Two seconds, or not at all? How much violent crime do they have in Vermont? Pretty much none? Shootings everyday in New York City – be sure to visit there, if you’re foolish enough. Or, you might spend some time in Vermont.

  5. Public opinion is not the problem. State legislators have come right out and said they want cash & votes from gun owners come election time. That is the issue.

  6. So after making a “deal” with Bloomberg to pass gay marriage, the repubs lose the senate. Then they all get on a bus with this bolshevik mutt Klein from the city and let him drive the bus. Thats some great leadership and decision making right there Skelos. Now looking forward, well, the picture does not look too bright to me. According to Tom, they already have a plethora of pre-filed bills, including microstamping (an effective ban on semi auto handguns). The 2 possibilities I see are that either the repubs will get right back on that bus with Klein and pass all of it, or the “coalition” will break up, full power will go back to the commies, and, you guessed it, they pass all of it. How many law suits are we going to file in how many kangaroo courts? And even suppose, like in the case we now have, that the judge is a real guy (I hear he is) think about the pressure on him from the despot regime and their state media. If he rules for us (for the constitution) he incurrs their full wrath. Looks like we are fucked? Hope somebody has a plan.

  7. Just because they want our votes/money does not mean that public opinion is not a growing problem. The long-term trend to 2A is more restrictions. And the underlying demographics indicate that trend will gain momentum. While gun sales are up, the percent of the population that owns guns is down. The percentage of hunters is down. The power of women voters is increasing. They overwhelmingly vote Democrat and support stricter gun laws. Those are not positive signs for our ability to generate money/votes over the long-term. They are also not positive signs for how 2A will be viewed in the court of public opinion over the long-term.

I don’t mean any disrespect. You are definitely in a position to know more about our side’s plan than I am. I just hope that someone high up the food-chain is losing sleep trying to counteract these trends.

  8. Markie Marxist sez: “Hey! You Em guy! Shut up and pay your taxes! You, Sir, are NOT a good communist! Where are the re-education camps when we need them?!”

  9. Hi Chas. Well I am sure that somewhere in the ACA, Ezikiel Emanuel set up just such a provision in the mental health section. And they will have a place and plenty of coolaid for all of us. If you have ever seen that guy on TV, its like watching a horror movie. Happy holidays to all of the great American Freedom Fighters on this cite. Lets stay together, hang on and fight this great fight.
