Don’t Panic

There’s talk that Gov. Cuomo will call for a total semi-auto prohibition bill with no grandfather clause for guns and magazines holding 10+, or even 7+, rounds.

Now is not the time for panic.  While gun control is still being pushed by many in the media, the pushback has already started.  Things are much different for us now than they were 20 years when Clinton pushed his bill through Congress.  We are in a much stronger position in Washington and even Albany, although there is still a lot of work to be done particularly here at home.

Now is the time for everybody to contact their reps. and let them know that more gun control is not the solution, it is the problem.  Join the NYSRPA and support our PAC too.

  1. I read that NY daily news article. It smells of 2nd grade reporting- I can’t believe that anyone would be that stupid to enact what they were saying. there were sure to be injunction orders and court battles if they had passed that. Also, didn’t Sen. Libous (i think thats how you spell it) touch on that subject and say they were only talking about making a pistol permit data more available through a state wide system?

  2. Given Cuomo’s presidential aspirations for 2016, does he really want to do this?
They say that the US consists of California and New York, with Alabama in between. How does Cuomo think that a vicious effort to rape the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding, American gun owners in New York will play in “Alabama”? He really needs to get out more.
We do not have a rifle or shotgun problem in New York State – they’re almost never used in crimes, however, we already have Pataki’s AWB anyway. Why does Cuomo want to alienate potential voters across America, merely to show that he can solve a non-problem? He doesn’t come across as being a fool.

  3. What the antis are doing is throwing everything out there in hopes that something will stick and our side will cave. I do not know if Cuomo is serious or not.

  4. I tend agree with admin’s view. The 7 round and confiscation BS sounds like politicaly highballing. It would create such a mess. What if it’s a revolver with 10 rounds (like .22s)? What is fair market value? Who is going to pay for it? Also I think its telling that even when the dems had full control their wasn’t enough support for such a “simple” thing as microstamping. I really can’t see large support for something as sweeping and as legally treachorous as this nonsense

  5. It’s important at a time like this to remember that the Second Amendment does not merely assert a right to keep and bear arms, which might later be construed as subject to some infringement, but rather it specifically prohibits even so much as mere infringement of the bearing of arms. Under the language of the Second Amendment, the antis can’t even fritter around the fringe of the right to bear arms. They know that, and they don’t care, but someone should. I do.
