The downside of being first

It appears that a new federal AWB is dead:

“In a huge political victory for the NRA, an assault-weapons ban proposed in the wake of the Newtown massacre won’t be part of a Senate gun-control bill, all but eliminating its chances of passage.  Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), author of the ban, said yesterday that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid(D-Nev.) had decided to ditch the legislation because it lacked the votes to pass …”

Good.  Now the question is what is the political impact on Gov. Cuomo who was so sure gun control was a winning issue that he wanted to be the first elected official to pass new laws after Newtown?

  1. Unfortunately, we are also on the downside of being first. I believe that it was all the efforts of the absolutely great NY 2nd amendment supporters under the great leadership of Tom King that brought down Fienstien’s federal ban (FUCK HER!) and all the rest of the nonsense that would otherwise have come down the pike. THANKS TO ALL YOU GREAT FOLKS ESPECIALLY FROM UPSTATE! It is my belief that they all looked at the incredible push back in, of all places, NY, and ran like thieves in the night. The only exception was Colorado, which appears to have fallen to the level of looking like the NYC council (How did that happen?). But unfortunately, Cuomo is now engaged in what I believe is a personal feud with us, bitter and angry about this whole thing having blown up in his face, and never to become the POTUS. EVEN SHELLY IS RUNNING AWAY FROM IT, AND I WILL TELL ALL YOU GUYS THAT DID ALL THE ORGANIZING AND HARD WORK – THAT IS SOMETHING INCREDIBLE THAT I WOULD NEVER HAVE BELIEVED – THANK YOU! But, unfortunately, being first, we also fell on the sword. Pray for the lawsuit. PS Stop rushing Tom and the lawyers because we have to get it right – not fast.
