Reciprocity bill introduced

Brian Kolb introduced a reciprocity bill to the Assembly, A-9086.  I am expecting the Democrats to introduce their own version sometime.

  1. We could use reciprocity within Albany County. The City of Albany requires permission from the Chief of Police for a license issued in Albany County to be valid in what’s left of the City of Albany. It’s the sort of petty restriction I’d expect from a Jefferson Davis “Boss” Hogg, but the city’s refusal to honor a state license should be eliminated.
National reciprocity? We don’t even have county reciprocity in this backwards state! Not to mention upstate state licenses being invalid in NYC, which is apparently only part of New York State when it wants to be. Equality under the law? We’re second class citizens up here. There a lot of things that need to change.

  2. That isn’t legal and I question how seriously the Chief tries to enforce it. The City of Albany does not have home rule authority like NYC.
