It is my understanding that the NYS Health Department has hired 2-3 people to process the backlog of records checks for pistol license applicants. I don’t have a number, but it has to be in the thousands of applications going back to at least March.

March…oh just great, that means i’m in that pile too.
At least there has been some movement on it.
Yeah, I put in my application at the end of march for Putnam county.
Markie Marxist sez: “Ha! Ha! Private gun owners are guilty until proven innocent! And we’re in no hurry to do that! What a bunch of rubes! They allow themselves to be presumed insane, until they’re proven not to be! Is there anything that we can’t con private gun owners into accepting? I can hear the conversation now:
“Oh, yeah! We have to check you out fist before you can get a gun! You might be crazy!”
“I might be crazy? Oh, okay, go ahead and check me out. I wouldn’t want anyone to get a gun if they were crazy.”
“Well, the criminally insane can get one on the street in about five minutes, but for a law-abiding citizen like you, it’ll take about a year or so.”
“Isn’t that kind of slow?”
“We’re doing all the checks on an emergency, rush priority basis, that’s why it’s only taking about a year.”
“Oh, rush priority, huh? Oh, okay, that’s good. I’m glad you folks are working as fast as you can on it. I wouldn’t want to be delayed unnecessarily.”
RUBES!
