Walmart proudly supports MAIG

The PolitickerNY has updated their story on Walmart selling guns with a position statement from a Walmart spokesman:

“… Steve Restivo, the director of community affaris for the big box retailer, points out that Walmart will not sell any guns or ammunition should they open a store in the five boroughs.  “Walmart will not sell firearms in any future New York City store.  We’re proud of our participation in ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ and will remain committed to the safe and responsible sale of firearms in areas of the country where they are sold.” …”

I didn’t like shopping at Walmart before and this statement is another reason to avoid the chain.

  1. “… Steve Restivo, the director of community affairs…”

How about, “Steve Restivo, the former director of community affairs”. I like the sound of that better, since Resitivo seems to have a tin ear for the community from which his company profits. Restivo, and his boss, should be fired.

“We’re proud of our participation in ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’..”

Maybe they’ll be happy selling guns only to MAIG mayors, though there’s not likely to be much money to be made in that extremely limited market. I wouldn’t buy so much as a BB gun from a dirtbag organization that is so hateful towards gun owners as to support MAIG.

“…and will remain committed to the safe and responsible sale of firearms in areas of the country where they are sold.”

Their commitment to sell firearms only applies where they still sell firearms? That’s not much of a commitment. Walmart should be supporting NYSRPA and NRA, not MAIG. Let them only sell their guns to MAIG members and we’ll see how that helps their bottom line. Up yours, Walmart!

  2. Walmart is in the business of making $. They’ll say what they must to break into the NYC market. Everything is subject to change.

  3. They did not need to say they support MAIG as they already have Bloomberg on their side.

  4. Their support of the thug that is Don Bloomberg is a sure way to get them into NYC… oh, wait, they won’t. Suckers.

  5. When I worked in Walmart stores I only bought sale ‘loss leaders’ which they were losing money on. As always, Wuck Falmart.
