Ethics, and the lack thereof

This is just too funny, “Senate Mandates Ethics Training“:

“… New York Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos today announced that he will require all Senators and Senate staff to participate in ethics training in conjunction with the Legislative Ethics Commission. The training will have to be completed by all Senators and Senate employees by April 1, 2011 …”

I have to laugh.  There’s been a constant parade for years of Albany politicians being busted for all sorts of bad behavior.  Rather than waste time on this feel-good ethics training, here’s some helpful tips to remember for politicians who get elected to high office:

  • Beating your woman upside the face with a bottle is bad.
  • Assaulting photographers and breaking their equipment is bad.
  • Roughing up traffic agents about to write you a ticket is bad.
  • Biting police officers is bad.
  • Assaulting members of your staff is bad.
  • Strong arming judicial candidates into hiring your cronies is bad.
  • Misappropriating money from non-profits you’ve funneled money to is bad.
  • Embezzlement is bad.
  • Fraud is bad.
  • Soliciting bribes is bad.
  • Petty larceny is bad.
  • Having one more for the road is bad.

While this list is hardly all encompassing, I believe it’s a good starting point.
