“… The Judiciary Committee is poised to return to the beltway on September 4, the Wednesday before the lower chamber’s six-week long recess is set to end. [Congressman Jerrold] Nadler says the panel will examine three gun violence prevention bills, and then hold a hearing on military-style assault weapons later in September …”
Brady chimes in:
JUST IN: @RepJerryNadler is calling the @HouseJudiciary back from recess to hold urgent hearings on gun safety legislation.
Sept 4: Hearing on high-capacity magazine ban, #DisarmHate, extreme risk laws
Sept 25: Hearing on assault weapons ban

This is nothing more than pre-planned political theater aimed at pressuring the Senate to take up some sort of gun control legislation.
I believe the bills in question are H.R.1186/S.447, H.R.1236/S.506 and H.R.1296/S.66. See also “Assault weapons ban picks up steam in Congress.“
