Tom McKevitt rising

Newsday reports that Nassau Assemblyman Tom McKevitt has been elevated to the #2 slot in the Republican Assembly Conference:

“… McKevitt has been named minority leader pro tempore, a title that not only makes him the No. 2 Republican in the chamber but also the guy who will lead the party in floor debates over the state budget and other bills. Previously, McKevitt had been an assistant floor leader, a role in which he frequently fenced with Democrats over the legal details and intricacies of proposed legislation …”

He is not our friend.  McKevitt has a history of co-sponsoring antigun legislation, voting for whatever gun control bills come up including the SAFE Act, and has even accepted campaign donations from New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.

  1. Mondello runs the Republican party here in Nassau, and he sucks big time. He will never run anyone except a RINO. Phillips, Martins, and this guy are all his people. I imagine he believes that he cannot win otherwise. Lee Zeldin is the only really good guy from Long Island. I don’t know how he survives, unless Mondello’s hypothesis is wrong? Look at Trump. It didn’t used to be this, but during the housing bubble, all the older conservative people sold off, retired, and left, and the NYC scumbag shit sacks came, and it turned bad. That’s when Schimmel, Rice, et al showed up and the scumbags took over. Lucky me, it was right around when I moved here. I saw it go down the shitter. This is a BIG reason we are weak in the Senate.

  2. BTW, There are VERY FEW gun people downstate here. And that is true of every demographic. Even old white males…you have a tough time finding them except maybe at a range. Anecdotally, you would be surprised at what I have seen as the strongest gunny demographic, but all around, VERY FEW.

  3. Interesting. I thought he had dried up and tumbled away years ago. Did not know he was still at it. He must be keeping a low profile behind the scenes.
