Bernie’s plan

CNN wonders, “Where is Bernie Sanders’ gun control plan?“:

“… Bernie Sanders said that his campaign was assembling a “comprehensive package” of plans to address gun violence in the United States. Months later, the insurgent candidate has failed to live up to that pledge. Sanders’ campaign has yet to issue a detailed policy paper on gun control … his campaign does not list fighting gun violence on his more than 20-position-long issue page on his website …”

Bernie’s plan is to ignore this stinker of an issue.  CNN is unwilling or unable to grasp that.

The New Republic then asks, “Why Don’t Bernie Sanders’s Millennial Supporters Care About His Record on Guns?“:

“… Gun control has become a key issue within the Democratic Party … Polls consistently show that most Democrats, and even half of independents, favor stricter gun laws. And yet, Clinton’s attacks don’t seem to be working: Sanders continues to close the gap in national polls. Do his famed Millennial supporters even care about his record on guns? “Oh yeah, it’s just not much of an issue for me,” said Arona Kessler, 29, a professional pro-choice advocate from Alexandria, Virginia … Jason Mazza, a 21-year-old college student on Long Island … “Overall though, gun control isn’t really that important of an issue to me.” …”

Answer:  Because they don’t care about gun control.  It is one thing to give an affirmative answer to a poll question and another very different thing to actively go out and do something in support of that issue.

“… These sentiments must be disheartening to the gun control groups that have injected themselves into the primaries, largely breaking in favor of Clinton …”

Cue Nelson Muntz.

If the Democrat base is saying they do not think gun control is that important, then what exactly are the gun control groups which support Hillary Clinton bringing to the table along with their endorsement?  Nothing.  Hence, there is no reason for Bernie to pander to them.
