What do you mean Cuomo has already “said” he wants as a next step; confiscation is a provision of the SAFE ACT. My understanding is that the law requires a registered “assault” weapon to be confiscated upon death of the owner, if it is not transferred out of state. How many spouses/children will actually do that? Most will turn them over.
If the law requires the weapon to be transferred out of state or turned over to the state, then the SAFE ACT is a delayed confiscation scheme.
A nice gesture, but its wasted, I doubt there are enough votes for it in the senate, let alone the assembly – and the 800 pound elephant in the room is the fact Cuomo would never support it.
