Revisiting civil commitment

Ann Coulter has a good article about how politicians should revisit involuntarily committing the mentally ill instead of focusing on gun control.  This is what NRA should have talked about at that embarrassing press conference where they didn’t even mention mental health issues.

  1. Wayne could have done a better job, but he was great when you compare his appearance with Cuomo’s bombastic, idiotic, rant about the second amendment having something to do with not needing 10 rounds to kill a deer. This last tragedy (and please believe that we all wish that it would never have happened, and our deepest sympathy to all who were hurt) proves everything we were saying. The latest is that it was an 870 pump (not even a semi) and he was reloading repeatedly. THERE WAS NO AR anything! And note the disingenuousness of the left. Had it been an AR, the shrieking would have been going on for another 6 months, but now? All suddenly forgotten. I hear nothing. So, if G-d forbid, you are killed, its not important to the libtard media unless it is a “good talking point” for the left.

  2. Digging into this mental health subject is going were angels fear to tread IMO. At best it’s an area where even the health professionals can’t agree amongst themselves what is “Normal”. Now politicians are suppose to conjure up some sort of yardstick measurement on “Normal”. Where are we going with this Personal Reliability Measurement?

Presently 2/3’s of this nation is disqualified from military service. Who’s going to serve *armed* in the Armed Services with the Exclusivity that seems to be coming down? Are these Personal Reliability Measurements to be rubberized to fit the political climate and need?

The mental health suggestions aren’t productive. They aren’t democratic.

  3. It would be hard to define “normal” and I do not imagine that I would fit in to that. However, a history of shooting into your neighbor’s apartment, shooting out someone’s tires, and calling the cops because there are voices comming out of your toaster? That may put you on the no guns list? I dunno?
