SCPC President wants SAFE repealed

Suffolk Co. Police Conference President Thomas Tartarian is no fan of the SAFE Act:

“… As far as the NY SAFE Act, I would personally like to see it repealed in it’s entirety.  It is such a flawed and poorly written law … I don’t believe the NY SAFE Act will make anyone safe; it will just make it harder for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves …”

The media can no longer claim it is just “some upstate officials” who are against SAFE.

  1. This law just needs to be stricken completely and I hope that the NYSRPA doesn’t compromise on getting rid of the law completely once Cuomo caves and offers retired officers their 2nd Amendment but not the rest of the citizenry. Cuomo is going to try and navigate his way through this and keep the law valid against citizens, so it is up to us to stay vigilant.

  2. Tom Tartarian is a good man. No surprise that he opposes this law. And I don’t think that his only concern is for retired Officers.
    He cares about people.

D McManus is also correct. The Assembly just passed bill #A6356 for retired Officers. This wouldn’t have happened without pre approval. The Senate version S-4536 is moving.

  3. Guess the fishing license fee break isn’t enough. Notice the recent series of “tax free zones” proposed for rural NY by governor. A multi-million $ add campaign (paid for of course by us) is being aired about how he proposes to reduce (even eliminate!) property taxes for upstate areas But still no concession he was wrong on SAFE Act. Arrogant ass is trying everything to buy public sentiment back or trying to drive a wedge between the gun issue and taxpayers. Nothing is working. Sad truth is Cuomo now realizes that he isn’t re-electable. Progressive Dems and Intellectuals wringing their hands and saying “to think it would come to this”.
