Skelos doesn’t get it

Dean Skelos just doesn’t get it:

“… “I think we’re going to look at the size of the clips, a number of other issues, protection within your home,” Skelos, R-Long Island, told reporters.  “But we also have to live within the reality of what the governor feels is appropriate or not.  I believe the governor is going to be pretty firm about the seven bullets, unless it’s in the home, and he’s going to be firm on the so-called assault weapons.” …”

Bullshit.  This preemptive surrender policy is why Republicans keep losing elections.  He doesn’t have either the brains or the balls to admit he screwed up and is clearly hoping the issue will blow over, which it won’t.

  1. I don’t think he screwed up, I think he knew he was stabbing gun owners in the back(figuratively) like the Long Island senate republicans did in 2000 with the Pataki ban. And now he is saying, “So what?”

  2. Wrong headed.
Plays as appeasement. What opposition wants: resigned acceptance.
Polarization is what defines an issue. Moderation takes politicians off the hook. Any politician is afraid of a litmus test issue. e.g. are you pro life or pro choice? For or against immigration reform WITH NO CITIZENSHIP REWARD for being here illegally.
If this ends up “wait him out” the rights will be compromised. What is needed is in your face litmus test. When politicians know they can lose an election they will carefully weigh their response

  3. FUCK THE GOVERNOR AND WHAT HE FEELS IS APPROPRIATE! And all his “progressive” commies and crimminals from the city too. I don’t think its appropriate to come after decent, productive, good people EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME and never hear a bad word about their violent crimminals from any of them. Yeah I know, there are 1,000,001 reasons for their ridiculous behavior, and ASTONISHINGLY, NOT ONE OF THEM IS THEIR FAULT. JUST ASK THEM! Its all us. Sorry guys, I am usually pretty reasonable, but this SHIT just went way past my temper!

  4. I’m calmer now. Maybe there is a way. We can’t get the assembly. But If we primary all these useless Repubs in the senate next election cycle, and get some real Repubs in with some real serious balls controlling the senate we have a chance. Great guys like Greg Ball. Nothing, and I mean nothing, gets done in Albany until this piece of shit law is repealed. No budgets, no more welfare increases, no more public service union deals, nothing moves or gets done. You upstate guys would have to make this happen. These candidates would have to give us a pledge, and then we work our asses off to make this happen. The Dems have been getting away with this kind of shit when they are not in control forever. Why can’t we?
