City Council declares Times Square a “sensitive area”

The City Council passed two gun control bills today:

  • INT 518A-2022, Requires the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice to coordinate with the New York City Police Department to conduct a study and issue an annual report to the Mayor and City Council Speaker on the trafficking of illegal firearms into New York City.
  • INT 602-2022, For the purposes of state penal law definition of sensitive area for the carrying of guns, defines the area commonly known as Times Square.
