From the NY Post, “Cuomo seeks Republicans to back his re-election<\/a>“:<\/p>\n

“Gov. Cuomo<\/a> is making another pitch Monday for Republican heavy hitters to back his re-election campaign. \u00a0Home Depot<\/a> founder Ken Langone<\/a> is hosting a \u201cRepublicans for Cuomo\u201d event at the Harvard Club<\/a> at 8:30 a.m. Cuomo will address the well-heeled Wall Street and real-estate titans and field questions.\u00a0 David Malpass<\/a>, who ran in the 2010 Republican US Senate primary, also was involved in planning the breakfast, sources said.\u00a0 Cuomo attended a similar event last month …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Several thoughts come to mind when I read this:<\/p>\n

  1. Why does Cuomo need Republicans?\u00a0 Democrats outnumber them roughly 2-1 in the state.\u00a0 This is more evidence<\/a> that Cuomo has problems with Democrats.<\/li>\n
  2. I think of Al D’Amato<\/a> when I read “Republican heavy hitters.”\u00a0 Fuck him.<\/li>\n
  3. David Malpass<\/a> is one of the candidates offered up as cannon-fodder against\u00a0Kirsten Gillibrand<\/a>, who D’Amato was trying to protect,\u00a0back in 2010. Fuck him too.<\/li>\n
  4. I think Cuomo is scared of Rob Astorino<\/a>.\u00a0 He invested a lot of political capital last year trying to defeat Astorino’s re-election bid which the media promptly forgot about when Astorino cruised to re-election in majority Democrat Westchester county.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
