Impossible."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A week ago the Poughkeepsie Journal reported <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poughkeepsiejournal.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=2013312270045\" target=\"_blank\">an increase of shootings in the city<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; The highest number of shootings in at least six years meant long days for City of Poughkeepsie police detectives and tragic news for a handful of victims\u2019 families. \u00a0Thirty-four people were shot in 33 incidents in the city this year \u2014 five of them fatally \u2014 but city police administrators remain hopeful their efforts will curb gun violence and illegal gun ownership in the city in 2014 &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Clearly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poughkeepsiejournal.com\/article\/20140105\/OPINION02\/301050028\/Letters-Editor-1-5\" target=\"_blank\">this is not possible<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;I\u2019m writing with regard to your Dec. 30 article claiming an increase of shootings in Poughkeepise over the past year. Reporter Roberto Cruz must have made a mistake as the article is simply is not believable.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In January 2013, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Gov. Andrew Cuomo<\/a> signed the \u201cnation\u2019s toughest gun control law\u201d thereby making it impossible for such events to occur. In addition, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofpoughkeepsie.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor John Tkazyik<\/a> has been a member of so-called Mayors Against Illegal Guns (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayorsagainstillegalguns.org\" target=\"_blank\">MAIG<\/a>) for years and has allowed his name to be used in numerous citizen disarmament campaigns orchestrated by MAIG at the state and federal levels. Tkazyik even accepted a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elections.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">personal campaign contribution<\/a> from MAIG founder <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikebloomberg.com\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In light of these facts, I do not see how your story could possibly be accurate.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I trust the editor will deliver suitable denunciation to Cruz for such \u201cshoddy\u201d reporting.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D9552&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
