{"id":9478,"date":"2013-12-19T17:56:25","date_gmt":"2013-12-19T22:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=9478"},"modified":"2013-12-19T17:56:25","modified_gmt":"2013-12-19T22:56:25","slug":"the-bloomberg-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=9478","title":{"rendered":"The Bloomberg Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Brodsky has an idea, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2013\/12\/18\/how-bloomberg-can-save-nyc-now\/\" target=\"_blank\">How Bloomberg can save NYC now<\/a>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Everyone\u2019s got a suggestion for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikebloomberg.com\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Bloomberg\u2019s<\/a> future, now that he\u2019s stepping down. \u00a0Well, here\u2019s one he\u2019s not likely to consider \u2014 but should: create a genuine two-party system in New York by building a credible <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nygop.org\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Party<\/a> &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A bold idea that has its pluses and minuses.<\/p>\n<p>On the plus side is his money, which is the lifeblood of politics especially under our <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tammany_Hall\" target=\"_blank\">Tammany<\/a> system of government. \u00a0If Bloomberg were genuinely interested in having open political discussion of ideas he could certainly use his fortune to help bankroll opposition candidates to the leftist machine.<\/p>\n<p>On the minus side is with his money comes a price: allegiance to Bloomberg. \u00a0 He&#8217;s spend a lot of his own money pushing various pet issues like gun control and I cannot see him doing this without putting conditions on candidates. \u00a0It would be less of the Grand Old Party and more of the Bloomberg Party.<\/p>\n<p>At this point it is all academic as I have seen no indication he is interested in going this route.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D9478&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
