In fact, if the gun debate is reignited after another massacre claimed 12 victims Monday at the Navy Yard in Southeast Washington, it will take place in a country with fewer restrictions on firearms than were in place a year ago &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This was to be expected. \u00a0The gun control movement has been in a downward spiral for over a decade. \u00a0By no coincidence, so has the &#8220;mainstream&#8221; media.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0Gun-control advocates had hoped to pass new legislation in states where Democrats control the legislature and governor\u2019s office &#8230;\u00a0In New York, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D)<\/a> signed legislation that would ban the sale of assault rifles and high-capacity ammunition clips and close the \u201cgun show\u201d loophole &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yep and that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=9049\">has worked out really well<\/a> for the Governor too.<\/p>\n<p>The question I have yet to find an answer to is who exactly gave Cuomo the idea that pushing gun control would be a good way for him to kick off his presidential bid? \u00a0Anyone who objectively looks at it has to conclude the issue is a stinker. \u00a0Cuomo must have advisors counseling him so I have to believe someone looked at the issue. \u00a0Were they afraid to tell him the truth? \u00a0Were they over-ruled? \u00a0Is Cuomo&#8217;s ego so big he thought he could revive the issue?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0If gun-control advocates could see any silver lining in their <a href=\"http:\/\/tv.msnbc.com\/2013\/09\/11\/colorado-recall-lawmakers-lose-jobs-over-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\">losses in Colorado<\/a>, it\u2019s that a new set of allies with deep pockets is beginning to engage. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikebloomberg.com\" target=\"_blank\">New York Mayor Michael R.
