In hindsight, perhaps Governor Cuomo’s<\/a> threatening elected sheriffs<\/a> wasn’t such a good idea. \u00a0More of them are speaking out against SAFE<\/a> as the Daily Star reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“… Schoharie County Sheriff Tony Desmond said he has no intention of enforcing the law, and that his office won\u2019t do anything that would cause law-abiding citizens to turn in their weapons or arrest them for possessing firearms …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“… Delaware County Undersheriff Craig DuMond said he and Sheriff Tom Mills support the New York State Sheriff\u2019s Association<\/a> opinion on the law … \u201cIt is too broad and prevents the possession of many weapons that can be used legally,\u201d he said. He is also against reducing the size of the magazine from 10 bullets. \u00a0Mills will continue to enforce the laws as required by the Constitution, DuMond said. \u00a0However, nobody has been arrested under the law\u2019s provisions. \u201cThe issue is we believe it is unconstitutional,\u201d DuMond said.
