{"id":8950,"date":"2013-08-25T11:01:01","date_gmt":"2013-08-25T15:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=8950"},"modified":"2013-08-25T11:01:01","modified_gmt":"2013-08-25T15:01:01","slug":"want-more-of-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=8950","title":{"rendered":"Want more of this"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unhappiness with the SAFE Act and the role <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenaterepublicans.com\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Republicans<\/a>\u00a0played in passing it continues to reverberate as the <a href=\"http:\/\/poststar.com\/news\/local\/pair-of-tea-party-republicans-to-challenge-incumbents-gop-committee\/article_30a8bc40-0cf2-11e3-b8f2-001a4bcf887a.html\" target=\"_blank\">Post Star reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Rob Arrigo and Elaine Gerber are challenging incumbent state Republican Committee members Todd Kusnierz and Shirley Needham in a rare contested race on Sept. 10 for committee representation of the northeastern Saratoga County municipalities in the 113th Assembly District. \u00a0&#8220;It\u2019s (state Republican Committee) dysfunctional because nobody is willing to challenge the status quo,\u201d Arrigo said &#8230; Arrigo said Saratoga County needs a stronger voice on constitutional issues, such as the SAFE Act, the gun control legislation that was enacted in January. \u00a0\u201cUnfortunately the SAFE Act was passed not just with Democrats, but it was passed largely because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senator\/dean-g-skelos\" target=\"_blank\">(state Sen. Majority Leader) Dean Skelos, R-Long Island<\/a>, allowed a vote on the SAFE Act in the New York State Senate,\u201d he said. \u201cThat is unacceptable, and we want to go and hold those elected officials accountable. \u00a0And the best place to do that is on the state committee.\u201d &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Good for them. \u00a0More people need to do stuff like this in both parties.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Ronald Jackson, regional vice chairman of the state Republican Committee, said it is good to see people interested in serving on the state Committee &#8230; But Jackson, who also is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.essexgop.org\" target=\"_blank\">Essex County Republican chairman<\/a>, said he disagrees with the contention the Republican Committee and Skelos are not conservative enough. \u00a0Skelos\u2019 majority hinges on support of independent Democrats who caucus with Republicans, Jackson said. \u00a0\u201cSo there\u2019s no way he could have stopped it (the SAFE Act), even if he wanted to,\u201d Jackson said &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bullshit. \u00a0Skelos and establishment Republicans have willingly become <a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Cuomo&#8217;s<\/a> butt monkeys because they are more concerned about preserving their (dwindling) little fiefdoms and being praised by far-left media outlets than in advancing an alternative, freedom-orientated agenda. \u00a0All that ass-kissing has gotten them is less Republicans holding public office. \u00a0Why in the world is this fool trying to defend a strategy which has been proven to be self-destructive?<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D8950&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
