Fourteen more firms have scaled back their gun investments by 7.4 million shares\u201427 percent of their holdings &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While it is unclear whether or not De Blasio&#8217;s campaign really influenced any of these firm&#8217;s decisions, for the sake of argument let&#8217;s give him all the credit.<\/p>\n<p>From an investors perspective, how smart of a move was it to dump these stocks now?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=swhc\">Smith &amp; Wesson stock<\/a> has risen over the past 5 years<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=rgr\" target=\"_blank\">Ruger stock<\/a> has risen over the past 5 years<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/q?s=oln\" target=\"_blank\">Winchester\/Olin stock<\/a> has risen over the past 5 years<\/li>\n<li>The Motley Fool says <a href=\"http:\/\/beta.fool.com\/ruperthargreav\/2013\/07\/18\/three-winning-small-caps-set-for-further-growth\/40593\/?source=eogyholnk0000001\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;W stock EPS is set to expand 30%<\/a> over the next 5 years<\/li>\n<li>The Motley Fool reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fool.com\/investing\/general\/2013\/07\/09\/sturm-ruger-expanding-manufacturing-capacity.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Ruger earnings are up 39% with revenue up 52%<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The Street is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/story\/11979546\/1\/heat-wave-bullish-for-death-investors.html\" target=\"_blank\">bullish on S&amp;W<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Zacks <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/bull-day-smith-wesson-swhc-050013496.html\" target=\"_blank\">rates S&amp;W a strong buy<\/a><\/li>\n<li>CNN reports <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2013\/06\/26\/news\/companies\/smith-wesson-guns\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">records sales for S&amp;W<\/a><\/li>\n<li>S&amp;P <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/p-upgrades-olin-corp-195103693.html\" target=\"_blank\">upgraded their rating of Olin<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Seeking Alpha <a href=\"http:\/\/seekingalpha.com\/article\/1453201-dividend-yielding-cyclical-chemicals-stocks-for-rebounding-growth\" target=\"_blank\">sees Olin as undervalued and predicts company growth<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So basically, anyone who followed De Blasio&#8217;s advice lost money.<\/p>\n<p>Way to go Bill.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D8808&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
