{"id":7316,"date":"2013-01-18T18:08:35","date_gmt":"2013-01-18T23:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=7316"},"modified":"2013-01-18T18:08:35","modified_gmt":"2013-01-18T23:08:35","slug":"journal-news-caves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=7316","title":{"rendered":"Journal News caves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lohud.com\" target=\"_blank\">Journal News<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/media\/2013\/01\/journal-news-removes-gun-map-citing-new-yorks-new-154606.html\" target=\"_blank\">caved to public pressure<\/a>\u00a0and removed their map of pistol license holders from their website.<\/p>\n<p>Editor Janet Hasson claims this was done to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/media\/2013\/01\/cuomo-gun-bill-includes-journal-news-clause-154259.html\" target=\"_blank\">comply with the new Cuomo gun law<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00a0&#8220;&#8230; While the new law does not require us to remove the data, we believe that doing so complies with its spirit &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bullshit. \u00a0And I mean <a href=\"http:\/\/newyork.newsday.com\/news\/nation\/journal-news-gun-permit-map-fecal-matter-mailed-to-editor-cyndee-royle-1.4435666\" target=\"_blank\">literally<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Police say someone mailed fecal matter to the home of an editor for a New York newspaper that has published the names and addresses of handgun owners &#8230; the package was sent to a Journal News employee.
