what I\u2019m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. \u00a0Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He&#8217;s been real careful to avoid gun control over the last four years. \u00a0Why he decided to say this now I don&#8217;t know. \u00a0My only guess is with polls\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gallup.com\/poll\/158048\/romney-obama-among-likely-voters.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">now showing Mitt Romney at 50%<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2012\/10\/16\/luntz_focus_group_of_mostly_former_obama_voters_switch_to_romney.html\" target=\"_blank\">his &#8217;08 supporters abandoning him<\/a>, he&#8217;s trying to shore up a disintegrating base.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D6811&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
