Some of the usual suspects in Albany<\/a> are hoping to exploit the Sikh temple shooting in Wisconsin<\/a> to push for more gun control in New York. \u00a0I had a roughly 15 minute interview with a New York Times reporter this afternoon who was doing a story about it<\/a> and got in one good point:<\/p>\n

Rieper, the vice president of legislative and political affairs for the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association<\/a>, said lawmakers were trying to capitalize on the mass shootings to push their own agendas. \u00a0 \u201cThey\u2019re trying to throw out a bunch of stuff basically to see what sticks,\u201d Mr. Rieper said, adding, \u201cSince when has taking guns from decent people prevented bad people from committing crime?\u201d …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What didn’t make it in print is that sometime later this year there will be a special legislative session and NYAGV<\/a> and the Senate Democrats<\/a> are trying to get microstamping on the agenda. \u00a0That is what this is all about.<\/p>\n
