{"id":5711,"date":"2012-03-05T13:35:37","date_gmt":"2012-03-05T18:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5711"},"modified":"2012-03-05T13:35:37","modified_gmt":"2012-03-05T18:35:37","slug":"discretionary-gun-licensing-unconstitutional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5711","title":{"rendered":"Discretionary gun licensing unconstitutional"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge has ruled that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdsp.org\/Organization\/SupportServicesBureau\/LicensingDivision\/HandgunPermit.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Maryland&#8217;s discretionary CCW<\/a> system is unconstitutional. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/baltimore.cbslocal.com\/2012\/03\/05\/md-gun-law-found-unconstitutional\/\" target=\"_blank\">According to the AP<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdd.uscourts.gov\/publications\/JudgesBio\/legg.htm\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. District Judge Benson Everett Legg<\/a> says a requirement that residents show a \u201cgood and substantial reason\u201d to carry a handgun infringes their <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\">Second Amendment<\/a> right to bear arms.
