{"id":565,"date":"2010-01-02T08:40:07","date_gmt":"2010-01-02T13:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=565"},"modified":"2010-01-02T08:40:07","modified_gmt":"2010-01-02T13:40:07","slug":"congressional-races-to-watch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=565","title":{"rendered":"Congressional races to watch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Star Gazette, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrcc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">NRCC<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stargazette.com\/article\/20100101\/NEWS01\/1010326\/GOP-banking-on-Reed-to-help-erode-Dem-s-grip\" target=\"_blank\">spotlighting three Congressional races<\/a> as possible Republican pickups this fall in districts 1, 19 and 29. \u00a0That gives us these match-ups:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CD-1:<\/span><\/strong> <strong>F<\/strong> rated incumbent <a href=\"http:\/\/timbishop.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Bishop<\/a> v.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.randyaltschuler.com\" target=\"_blank\">Randy Altschuler<\/a>. \u00a0Bishop is a longtime anti,\u00a0Altschuler is an unknown quantity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CD-19:<\/span><\/strong> <strong>F<\/strong> rated incumbent <a href=\"http:\/\/johnhall.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">John Hall<\/a> v. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanhayworth.com\" target=\"_blank\">Nan Hayworth<\/a>. \u00a0Hall accepted campaign money from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bradycampaign.org\" target=\"_blank\">Brady&#8217;s<\/a> but wasn&#8217;t actively promoting antigun legislation the last time I checked. \u00a0Hayworth struck me as being a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Republican_In_Name_Only\" target=\"_blank\">RINO<\/a> but does not have any position statement on her campaign website about guns.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CD-29:<\/span><\/strong> <strong>C<\/strong> rated incumbent <a href=\"http:\/\/massa.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Eric Massa<\/a> v. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomreedforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Reed<\/a>. \u00a0Not sure what Massa did to earn his last <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrapvf.org\" target=\"_blank\">NRA rating<\/a>. \u00a0He seemed concerned about being perceived as being pro-gun in the past. \u00a0Reed is the Mayor of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.city-data.com\/city\/Corning-New-York.html\" target=\"_blank\">Corning<\/a>, but his position on guns is unknown. \u00a0He isn&#8217;t a member of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayorsagainstillegalguns.org\" target=\"_blank\">MAIG<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D565&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=565\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=565\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=565\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Star Gazette, the NRCC is spotlighting three Congressional races as possible Republican pickups this fall in districts 1, 19 and 29. \u00a0That gives us these match-ups: CD-1: F rated incumbent Tim Bishop v.\u00a0Randy Altschuler. \u00a0Bishop is a longtime anti,\u00a0Altschuler is an unknown quantity.
