I\u2019m not going to worry about everybody else. \u00a0I\u2019m going to work for your opponent unless you do what\u2019s right to protect my kids and the cops on the corner who are putting their lives on the line to protect me,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/mayor\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Bloomberg<\/a> responded when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wor710.com\/john-gambling\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Gambling<\/a> asked how voters are supposed to make a difference in such a complicated legislative body &#8230; Mr. Bloomberg then made the case that Washington legislators should face scrutiny no matter how bad their opponents are on gun control issues. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019ll deal with your opponent when I get that man or woman when he gets into office,\u201d he advocated voters tell their representatives &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Good advice except for one, tiny problem: antigunners do not have a voting constituency. \u00a0The organizations which represent them are largely just front groups for professional politicians and activists which are funded by large foundations including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joycefdn.org\" target=\"_blank\">Joyce<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tides.org\" target=\"_blank\">Tides<\/a>. \u00a0They can&#8217;t turn out people to vote because they aren&#8217;t membership-based; they&#8217;re mostly <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Astroturfing\" target=\"_blank\">astroturf<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The gun control groups don&#8217;t even talk much about impacting elections anymore. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.csgv.org\" target=\"_blank\">CSGV<\/a> especially seems to be trying to morph into some sort of weird, peace, love, higher consciousness something-or-other. \u00a0Whatever they&#8217;re going for it isn&#8217;t political. \u00a0All of them seem in disarray as their money has been drying up in the aftermath of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller\" target=\"_blank\">Heller<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/McDonald_v._Chicago\" target=\"_blank\">McDonald<\/a><\/em>. \u00a0The only one who is really getting involved with elections is Bloomberg himself and he&#8217;s making private donations out of pocket.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D5623&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5623\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5623\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5623\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some advice for the antis, &#8220;Bloomberg: Gun Control Advocates Should Adopt NRA\u2019s Political Tactics&#8220;: &#8220;&#8230; \u201cWhat you\u2019ve got to do is take a look at your Congressman, your Senator, and say \u2018Where are you?
