{"id":5157,"date":"2011-12-05T10:47:25","date_gmt":"2011-12-05T15:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5157"},"modified":"2011-12-05T10:47:25","modified_gmt":"2011-12-05T15:47:25","slug":"dead-on-arrival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5157","title":{"rendered":"Dead On Arrival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on the heals of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5122\">Schneiderman&#8217;s gun bust<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/schumer.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Charles Schumer<\/a> will be reintroducing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fixgunchecks.org\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor Bloomberg&#8217;s proposal<\/a> to ban the private transfer of firearms in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Senate<\/a> via his butt monkey <a href=\"http:\/\/gillibrand.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Kirsten Gillibrand<\/a>. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalnewyork.com\/article\/culture\/2011\/12\/4461615\/gillibrand-tries-again-schneidermans-help-push-gun-bill\" target=\"_blank\">The Capital reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Schumer made guns a defining issue of his tenure in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">House<\/a>, but, as he&#8217;s ascended the Senate leadership, and gun control has disappeared from the agenda of the national party, the senior senator has mostly ceded the issue to Gillibrand\u00a0&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yeah and there&#8217;s a reason for him doing that: \u00a0Schumer knows the issue is bad for Democrats. \u00a0He does not want to give the public the impression the Democrat party is pushing for gun control. \u00a0If he were serious about this bill, he would intro the bill himself. \u00a0All the major bills in Albany are sponsored by legislative leaders, not the rank and file.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0The last time Gillibrand introduced the bill, it garnered only two co-sponsors\u2014Schumer and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lautenberg.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg<\/a>\u2014before stalling in committee. &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Which it will likely do again and Schumer knows it. \u00a0This dog and pony show is nothing more than an attempt to delay passage of <a href=\"http:\/\/thomas.loc.gov\" target=\"_blank\">H.R. 822<\/a> in the Senate.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D5157&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
