The Ostego Co. legislature<\/a> voted in favor of a resolution<\/a> advising state lawmakers not to adopt more gun control laws:<\/p>\n

“… Rep. James Johnson, R-Otsego<\/a>, said the nation’s founders had considered the right to bear arms “second in importance only to freedom of speech.” \u00a0Then he read part of the Second Amendment<\/a> to his colleagues …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Good for him. \u00a0He gets it. \u00a0Unfortunately, not all of his colleagues do.<\/p>\n

“… Richard Murphy, D-Oneonta<\/a> … Murphy said he believed the measures were “designed to target handguns and illegal guns,” not to restrict hunters. Handguns should be banned because they are implicated in many murders, Murphy said …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
