{"id":5105,"date":"2011-11-28T07:51:26","date_gmt":"2011-11-28T12:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5105"},"modified":"2011-11-28T07:51:26","modified_gmt":"2011-11-28T12:51:26","slug":"antis-2-votes-short","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=5105","title":{"rendered":"Antis 2 votes short?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There has been much PSH in the New Jersey media over the possibility of <a href=\"http:\/\/thomas.loc.gov\" target=\"_blank\">H.R. 822<\/a> becoming law. \u00a0After reading this piece, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/times-opinion\/index.ssf\/2011\/11\/amick_gun_laws_in_the_garden_s.html\" target=\"_blank\">Gun laws in the Garden State<\/a>, &#8221; which quotes noted gun bigot Brian Miller of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peacecoalition.org\/chapters\/ceasefirenj.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ceasefire New Jersey<\/a>, it is easy to see why they are so upset:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Miller sees a real possibility that the Democratic-controlled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Senate<\/a> will approve the bill, possibly as an attachment to a piece of essential legislation, such as authorization for Defense Department appropriations. \u201cMy understanding is that <strong>our side is two votes short<\/strong> of enough votes to keep that from happening,\u201d he said. \u201cBut there are a number of undeclared senators, including (Pennsylvania\u2019s) <a href=\"http:\/\/casey.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Bob Casey<\/a>, who advertises himself as a moderate-to-liberal Democrat but is pro-gun &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They don&#8217;t have the votes. \u00a0It is going to happen.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D5105&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
