A good analysis on Mitt Romney’s<\/a> campaign over at Warning Signs blog, “If Not Romney, Who?<\/a>”<\/p>\n

One thing I don’t agree with is this:<\/p>\n

“… Whether it\u2019s been about abortion and choice, stem cell research, gun control<\/strong>, immigration, or taxes, Romney has been on one side of the issue or the other over the years. What is called \u201cflip-flopping\u201d can also been seen as a process of growth, of examining his positions on these issues and\u2014yes\u2014changing them …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While this argument might have some<\/em> degree of validity, with respect to gun control, it is far more plausible that Romney recognizes being seen as pro-gun, or at least not antigun, is more politically advantageous to him than being viewed as antigun.<\/p>\n

Obama<\/a> has been doing pretty much the same thing, and actually doing a much better job at it than Romney. \u00a0Romney’s going to NRA meetings<\/a> is much like John Kerry going duck hunting<\/a>: not believable. \u00a0Stuff like that insults peoples intelligence and pisses them off. \u00a0Obama has largely avoided the issue in public. \u00a0Given his past record<\/a>, being quiet about it is his best option. \u00a0Romney should do the same.<\/p>\n
