{"id":4746,"date":"2011-10-14T08:40:17","date_gmt":"2011-10-14T12:40:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4746"},"modified":"2011-10-14T08:40:17","modified_gmt":"2011-10-14T12:40:17","slug":"h-r-822-hearings-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4746","title":{"rendered":"H.R. 822 hearings continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hearings on <a href=\"http:\/\/thomas.loc.gov\" target=\"_blank\">H.R. 822<\/a> will continue today in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">House<\/a>. \u00a0Several antigun amendments were defeated, including two by <a href=\"http:\/\/nadler.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Jerrold Nadler<\/a> which <a href=\"http:\/\/nadler.house.gov\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=1736&amp;Itemid=132\" target=\"_blank\">he whines about in his press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/carolynmccarthy.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Carolyn McCarthy<\/a> went a different route by <a href=\"http:\/\/carolynmccarthy.house.gov\/recent-news\/mccarthy-to-governors-protect-your-state-from-nationwide-concealed-handgun-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\">sending a letter to all 50 Governors<\/a> trying to get them to oppose the bill. \u00a0This seems highly unlikely to work as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moccw.org\/map.html\" target=\"_blank\">41 states<\/a> are either <em>shall issue<\/em> or <em>constitutional<\/em> carry right now. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Gov.
