{"id":4397,"date":"2011-08-10T15:43:17","date_gmt":"2011-08-10T19:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4397"},"modified":"2011-08-10T15:43:17","modified_gmt":"2011-08-10T19:43:17","slug":"excuse-me-while-i-whip-this-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4397","title":{"rendered":"Excuse me while I whip this out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the heavy Democrat enrollment advantage, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/blogs\/dailypolitics\/2011\/08\/six-points-separate-democrat-david-weprin-gops-bob-turner-in-new-ny-9-siena-po\" target=\"_blank\">race to fill Anthony Weiner&#8217;s Congressional seat<\/a> is quite close according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.docstoc.com\/docs\/89216233\/siena-ny-9-crosstabs\" target=\"_blank\">latest poll<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/weprinforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Democrat David Weprin<\/a> leading <a href=\"http:\/\/bobturnerforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Bob Turner<\/a> by 6%.<\/p>\n<p>On RKBA issues, Turner is an unknown. \u00a0His main attract is that he is not Weprin, who earned an <strong>F<\/strong> based upon his record in both the <a href=\"http:\/\/council.nyc.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Clown Council<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assembly.state.ny.us\" target=\"_blank\">State Assembly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The one time Weprin tried taking up the gun issue was when he was in the Clown Council and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ny1.com\/content\/top_stories\/41344\/councilman-makes-another-push-to-ban-realistic-looking-fake-guns\" target=\"_blank\">wanted to prohibit toy guns<\/a> on the grounds that criminals paint them black and use them to commit crimes. \u00a0Weprin felt the need to do some grandstanding and called a press conference. \u00a0Not content to simply stand there and bullshit the media about an issue nobody cares about, Weprin decided a live action demonstration was in order. \u00a0He had hidden a fully loaded water pistol down the front of his pants. \u00a0At the appropriate time it was his intention to pull it out, dramatically proving his point.<\/p>\n<p>Problem was the gun had gotten caught up with his gentleman&#8217;s sausage. \u00a0When he reached in to pull the toy out, it discharged it&#8217;s load of H2O down the front of his pants in full view of the assembled media. \u00a0Any normal person would have been embarrassed, but Weprin comes from a family of professional politicians and kept right on going. \u00a0He even reintroduced the bill the next year, although he decided to forgo with the theatrics.<\/p>\n<p>Weprin is a career politician who got in based upon his <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saul_Weprin\" target=\"_blank\">father&#8217;s name<\/a> and has pretty much coasted along without doing much of anything important. \u00a0He doesn&#8217;t even live in the district. \u00a0If elected he&#8217;ll reliably vote antigun, although I doubt he&#8217;d be at the forefront of the issue.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D4397&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4397\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4397\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4397\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the heavy Democrat enrollment advantage, the race to fill Anthony Weiner&#8217;s Congressional seat is quite close according to the latest poll with Democrat David Weprin leading Republican Bob Turner by 6%.
