{"id":4239,"date":"2011-06-27T16:22:11","date_gmt":"2011-06-27T20:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4239"},"modified":"2011-06-27T16:22:11","modified_gmt":"2011-06-27T20:22:11","slug":"principles-my-ass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=4239","title":{"rendered":"Principles my ass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seen over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midhudsonnews.com\/News\/2011\/June\/27\/NYS_Consv_Saland-27Jun11.htm\" target=\"_blank\">MidHudsonNews.com<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;The chairman of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpnys.org\" target=\"_blank\">State Conservative Committee<\/a> said he expects the party to pull its endorsement of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senator\/stephen-m-saland\" target=\"_blank\">State Senator Stephen Saland (R-Poughkeepsie)<\/a> for his vote in support of gay marriage in New York &#8230; \u201cThe Conservative Party has to be true to its principles and those principles are supporting marriage between a man and a woman and we can no longer endorse people who don\u2019t respect that or honor that commitment,\u201d [Mike Long] said &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Putting aside the issue, this statement is laughable. \u00a0The last thing Mike Long or the CP does is stand on principle as is evidenced by the people their party has endorsed over the years (remember <a href=\"http:\/\/ignitewithricklazio.com\" target=\"_blank\">Rick Lazio<\/a>?) \u00a0They don&#8217;t support the RKBA and I cannot recall them ever trying to hold their endorsed officials accountable on it. \u00a0They give lip service to cutting taxes, but don&#8217;t follow up at election time when giving out endorsements. \u00a0They make some noise about abortion, but generally don&#8217;t follow up with that at election time either. \u00a0They only thing they&#8217;ve been pretty consistent on is dumping on homosexuals. \u00a0While I don&#8217;t doubt that is in fact an issue for them, what Long &amp;
